John Lurie and the Lounge Lizards perform music
from Get Shorty, Down by Law, Stranger Than Paradise, Fishing with John
and additional material... Filmmaker, musician, actor, composer, philospher.
Lounge Lizard leader John Lurie has been called all these things and it
is true that he is exceedingly accomplished in said fields. None however
should outshadow the fact that, in concert, Lurie is one hell of a performer.
He has provided the music and starred in the Jim Jarmusch classics "Down
by Law" and "Stranger Than Paradise" as well as Wayne Wang's "Blue in
the Face". To each of these he has lent the cool variations of virtuosic
jazz that have made the Lounge Lizards a worldwide sensation. Most recently,
he did the same for Barry Sonnenfeld's satire of Hollywood scheming in,
"Get Shorty" and in his own series of "travel shows" on "Fishing with
John" in an episodic investigation of sport, adventure, and comraderie
featuring Matt Dillon, Tom Waits, and Dennis Hopper.
